Quilting Has Been A Dream

I have wanted to learn to quilt for years and years, but never had the time.

Last October I decided to take the plunge and I signed up for a beginner's course to make a sampler. My friend joined up with me, and that meant I could not back out. (I have a hard time going into new situations.)

I finished piecing the sampler top and I am working on hand quilting it.

I really enjoyed making all the blocks except the "Flying Geese" and the "Eight-Pointed Star."

I also made one big discovery: Quilting makes me happy!

Your sampler quilt is beautiful! I know you didn't like the eight-pointed star, but it is so well made.

My mom is a quilter and I've taken one class. I know how enjoyable this can be. I'm glad you've found a hobby you enjoy so much.

When you want to take a road trip, here are two quilting shops you should visit:

Linda's Quilt Shop Inc
615 Sunset St
Denton, TX 76201
(940) 387-7912

and

Quilt Country
Phone (972) 436-7022
701 S Stemmons Fwy #60
Lewisville TX, 75067

Quilt Country is located at the nortwest corner of I35 and Fox Avenue facing the Blackeyed Pea Restaurant.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I will be in Denton at the end of the month to pick up the youngest, so I will check out Linda's.

I have been to Quilt Country. Great selection, but the employees were down right rude to me until they saw that I was actually checking out with several items, then they became very sweet. (By rude I mean that when I showed them a fat quarter of some of their fabric and asked if they had any on a bolt they waved their arm into a general direction and said "if we do it is over there." When I asked them if they had a chart so I could figure out yardage on a project that I had decided on in their store, the woman let out this huge sigh, rolled her eyes, and said "I'll see if I can find one." They were not busy as there were three of them behind the counter talking and there were only 3 other shoppers in that huge shop at the time. I will probably go back some time for the selection, but only when I know just what I need.
